Who is behind 4Button Leather?Kirk Kirkland is a husband and a dad in suburbia Toronto. Kirk left typical work life when his daughter was young, wanting to spend as much time with her as possible while she's still in the nest. Inevitably, the children grow and need their parents less and less. In Kirk's spare time while his daughter is in school, Kirk found a hobby in working with leather. After a number of years of experimenting and learning, Kirk finally decided to share his finely honed craft with the world. Kirk lovingly refers to his daughter as "button". Hence, 4Button Leather was born. Partnered with his wife Sandra who moonlights as a real estate executive, 4Button Leather is a small business with a big punch. Firm believers in quality customer service, 4Button will always strive for your satisfaction in your purchase. Whether you're buying one of our ready-made products or looking to commission a unique piece or set that's all your own, we guarantee to impress.

What kind of products do you use?4Button Leather only works with the highest quality leather products. We source full grain leather from the best tanneries around the world and spare no expense in the hides we use. Full grain leather is the highest quality of leather, made from the top layer of the animal hide. It retains its natural grain pattern and has not been sanded or corrected. Full grain leather is known for its durability, breathability, and beautiful patina that develops and changes over time. We have a small stock of some of the most beautiful patterns and colours for your custom pieces, but are also skilled at sourcing the most unique colours, finishes and textures so you're getting exactly what you want in a custom design.

What do I need to make a custom order?Nothing! Reach out to us to set up a time for a casual conversation where we get to know you and what you're looking for. Kirk is remarkably talented at realizing visions and dreams. Whether you want one item or a matching set, we'll take what we learn from our conversation with you and present a mockup. Consultations and mock-ups are at no charge, and no obligation. We won't start crafting your items until you've signed off on your order. We pride ourselves on transparency and producing the results you expect.
-
How long will it take to make my custom order? As you can imagine, this will depend on the scope of the project. We may need to order leather from a global tannery, or the item you want created may include aspects beyond a standard design. Either way, we will strive to be up front with you about the timing, and if things change, we will inform you immediately and provide options. Your satisfaction is the only result of the sale possible, for us.
-
Do I need to give you a deposit for a custom order?Possibly. Custom orders are just that - custom and specifically curated. Whether we will require a deposit to begin work will depend on a number of things such as the scope of the project, and the materials used. We will discuss this openly with you and come up with a plan that you're happy with - together.
-
How do you ship items? Our packaging hopefully will give you as much delight as we had designing it. We make our own keepsake boxes and recyclable packaging in-house. Because we are proud of our presentation, we take care in how our items are shipped. This may increase shipping costs depending on the delivery method you choose. The costs and options will be clear to you on checkout. If you have any questions or want to request a different shipping method, please reach out to us!
